Scholarships

OSCA believes in the benefit of supporting post-secondary excellence. OSCA has committed to this by offering a graduate student scholarships program that supports the further education of deserving school counseling graduate students. Specific details related to each scholarship can be found below.

How to Access and Submit Applications

All scholarship application downloading and uploading can be done at our OSCA Awards Site under the "Other Awards" tab. You must create an account on that site to upload materials. The deadline for both scholarships is April 30 of each year. The scholarship is paid out for the proceeding fall term directly to the college. Any questions related to either scholarship can be directed to the Professional Recognition Committee at bethhinshaw@ohioschoolcounselor.org.


OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship

OSCA will award up to two (2) $1000 graduate scholarships to deserving school counseling graduate students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a master's school counselor program in the state of Ohio
    • Note: Students enrolled in online programs are not eligible unless the online program is run through an Ohio institution
    • Note: Students enrolled in their final semester of study and preparing to graduate are not eligible to apply.
  • Has completed at least six (6) semester hours of graduate work
  • Maintains an active student membership with OSCA

The application must include the following:

  • Completed scholarship application form (can be downloaded from the OSCA Awards Site)
  • A typewritten essay of no more than one double-spaced page answering the following question: "How do school counselors utilize leadership, advocacy and collaboration to effect systemic change in schools to maximize student success?"
  • Copy of official graduate school transcripts showing a minimum of 6 completed credit hours
  • Professional letter of support written by a current academic adviser or professor

All applications must be submitted online at the OSCA Awards Site site by April 30 of each year. Incomplete applications or those determined to not meet the above criteria will not be considered. Past OSCA Graduate Student Scholarship recipients are not eligible. Scholarship payments will be disbursed directly to the college upon verification of enrollment.

OSCA Diversity Graduate Student Scholarship

OSCA will award up to one (1) $1000 graduate scholarships to deserving school counseling graduate students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a master's school counselor program in the state of Ohio
    • Note: Students enrolled in online programs are not eligible unless the online program is run through an Ohio institution
    • Note: Students enrolled in their final semester of study and preparing to graduate are not eligible to apply.
  • Has completed at least six (6) semester hours of graduate work
  • Maintains an active student membership with OSCA
  • Must be a member of an under-represented group

The application must include the following:

  • Completed scholarship application form (can be downloaded from the OSCA Awards Site)
