Combating Bias & Bullying by Creating Inclusive Classrooms

Description: During this session, attendees will develope an understanding of the purpose of No Place for Hate and how to implement it in K-12 schools. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about and participate in No Place for Hate activities in different K-12 grade bands.

Presenter Information: Kelly Fishman is the Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League’s Cleveland office covering Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, & Western Pennsylvania. Kelly began her career in higher education administration at the University of Miami (Florida), the University of Michigan, and Case Western Reserve University. After completing her master's degree in education, Kelly worked for over a decade as a high school English teacher, club advisor, and diversity, equity and inclusion lead at Solon High School. Kelly joined the ADL in June of 2022 as the Education Director. In March of this year, she also stepped into the Interim Regional Director role. Kelly accepted the role of Regional Director at the start of July. In addition to her work at ADL, she is also currently working on her Doctor of Education degree in diversity and equity in education through the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and writing chapters for a freshman DEI textbook for West Virginia University. 

Additional Information: Pre-registration is required and will be open through the end of the day on May 12. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out to all registrants the day before the workshop. A CE certificate will be emailed to those in attendance after the event.

The workshop is free to OSCA members and $10 for non-members. Please note that non-members who still have an outstanding balance will not be provided with a CE certificate.
