Youth Volunteer Engagement: Tools & Resources to Engage Youth of All Ages

Description: Join us for an engaging discussion about how school counselors, teachers, and school administrators can support students to engage in volunteer service! Research shows that youth of all ages who participate in service exhibit positive outcomes including improved attendance, better grades, and higher graduation rates. Service also produces positive impacts in prosocial behaviors, is linked to higher self-esteem, increased social support, and fewer depressive symptoms and feelings of isolation. Rebeccah Verhoff-Kiss, Director of Strategic Engagement at ServeOhio, will discuss best practices in youth service and service learning and share ServeOhio's brand new resources available to engage youth in service, including an online platform for high school students, service project ideas for all ages, youth service toolkits, and funding opportunities!

Presenter Information: Rebeccah Verhoff Kiss is the Director of Strategic Engagement at ServeOhio, Ohio’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism. In her role, Rebeccah establishes the vision and operating parameters for volunteer and outreach programs to increase AmeriCorps service and community volunteer engagement in communities across Ohio. She has over 16 years’ experience in the volunteerism/service profession leading AmeriCorps, community volunteering, and youth engagement programs. 

Additional Information: Pre-registration is required and will be open through the end of the day on February 6. A Zoom meeting link will be emailed out to all registrants the day before the workshop. A CE certificate will be emailed to those in attendance after the event.

The workshop is free to OSCA members and $10 for non-members. Please note that non-members who still have an outstanding balance will not be provided with a CE certificate.
